Message from the Headteacher

May I thank all our students for their hard work and dedication during spring term? Once again, they have been incredibly busy and have demonstrated to us their incredible talents in the classroom, on the sports field, on the stage and in our Mossley Hollins community. Thank you so much to families and to our wider community who do so much to support these talented young people. I am very humbled to lead Mossley Hollins and the fantastic students who represent us so well every day.

The year 11 GCSE examinations and moderations have now begun and students have already completed practical examinations and moderations in Drama, PE and Art. Well done to all students involved. We are now on the eve of the main examination period and I am indebted to staff who are supporting students by providing high quality Easter revision sessions. Please support us by making sure your child is here, on time, and ready to learn for any sessions they have been invited to.

I would also like to share our thanks and appreciation for two teachers who leave us this time. Mrs Barrowclough has worked with us since 2007 and has successfully held the position of Co-ordinator of Art since 2014. Mrs Barrowclough has successfully guided twelve cohorts of GCSE and BTEC Artists through their examinations, and has ended each school year with a wonderful art exhibition enjoyed by students, their families and members of our local community.

Miss Horsfield joined us in 2012 and soon became Deputy Head of the Modern Foreign Languages faculty before going on to lead the faculty in April 2017. During her time Miss Horsfield has been a great advocate for languages education, and has, through the planning and running of many successful Spanish Trips, foreign languages events and partnership events, introduced our students, not only to the culture of Spain but also to the love and challenge of languages education.

We are so grateful for what our colleagues have given to the young people of Mossley Hollins and we wish them every success in their exciting future careers.

May I wish everyone a restful and enjoyable Easter break, we look forward to seeing the students again on Tuesday 23rd April 2019.

Mr Marshall
